Sarah T. Jewell is a poet and storyteller living in Jersey City, NJ. She has a chapbook from dancing girl press that was published in March 2017, titled How to Break Your Own Heart. As a member of the Jersey City Arts Council’s Literary Arts Committee, she was instrumental in launching the first Jersey City Poetry Festival in April 2018, a nine day celebration in honor of National Poetry Month. She has studied poetry under the guidance of wonderful mentors, including Elaine Sexton, David Groff, and Tina Chang. In the summer of 2016 she participated in the writer’s conference The Writer’s Hotel in NYC, where she got the chance to work with Tim Seibles, Wes McNair, and Marie Howe. In 2015, a poem of hers, A Prayer for Provenance, was nominated for a Pushcart Prize by the editors of Bird’s Thumb. She enjoys moderating the Jersey Plums weekly poetry workshop every Saturday at 11am at &Co, 201 Montgomery St, 2nd floor, in Jersey City, NJ. Please RSVP on Meetup if you plan to join us.
